Two Actors Join Picard Series

CBS All Access has announced that Santiago Cabrera (Salvation), and Michelle Hurd (Blindspot) will be joining Sir Patrick Stewart‘s new Trek series, which will “explore the next chapter of Jean-Luc Picard.” Plus: Picard series begins shooting, and possible title for the series.

Deadline claimed that Cabrera will “play the pilot of Picard’s ship who also is a skillful thief.” Hurd will play “a former intelligence officer who is a brilliant analyst with a terrific memory that has not been affected by her drug and alcohol abuse.”

Cabrera “starred for two seasons on the CBS summer thriller drama series Salvation, from Secret Hideout and CBS Studios. He also recurred on HBO‘s Big Little Lies and played Aramis in the BBC series The Musketeers. In features, Cabrera recently was seen in Transformers: The Last Knight.”

“Hurd played Shepherd, Jane’s and Roman’s adoptive mother and leader of the terrorist group Sandstorm, on NBC‘s drama Blindspot and also recently recurred on Fox’s Lethal Weapon. She also had major recurring roles on Starz‘s horror comedy Ash vs. Evil Dead and in the Marvel Universe Netflix series Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Hurd…[will] next will be seen in Justin Simien‘s film Bad Hair, alongside Vanessa Williams and Laverne Cox.”

TrekMovie reported that the latest issue of the industry newsletter Production Weekly has new details for the Picard show. The show will begin shooting on April 14 and continue until October 1.

In addition, the show will be based in Santa Clarita, California, instead of Toronto, where Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Short Treks are based.

The show may have the title of Star Trek: Destiny, according to Production Weekly, but time will tell if that is the final title.
