Stewart: Saving Is Good

1 min read

Taking the advice of co-star Brent Spiner, Patrick Stewart hung on to certain items from his time on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

“Throw nothing away,” Spiner told Stewart over twenty years ago. “Save everything.” So Stewart did, and now has a treasure trove of scripts and call sheets from his time on TNG.

“…when I started filming Star Trek the Next Generation, at my first day of filming we were getting new pages every day,” explained Stewart. “…rewrites, rewrites. They came for seven years. Rewrites were the bane of my existence. And every new rewrite was a different colored page. Sometimes we would work our way through all the colors and start again and work through them.

One day, Stewart was sitting next to Brent Spiner who watched Stewart updating his script pages. “I was collating the scripts,” said Stewart, “getting new pages, taking the old pages out and tossing them in the recycling bin and Brett said: ‘Don’t do that. Throw nothing away. Save everything.’

“The end result is we have just finished collating my complete collection of 178 original scripts with all the different colored pages, and the call sheets for every day and I’m deciding now what to do with them.”

Perhaps an Ebay auction is in order.

  1. Why hope for an Ebay Auction? Why not hope that they’ll be published in some manner and sold AFFORDABLY so more fans can enjoy them…
