Star Trek 2 In 2013
1 min readFans hoping for Star Trek 2 in 2012 are in for a bit of a disappointment, as it’s more likely that the J.J. Abrams sequel will arrive in theaters in 2013 instead.
Viacom CEO Phillippe Dauman mentioned Star Trek 2 during a Viacom quarterly earnings call. Abrams is “focused on developing the next installment of our Star Trek franchise” for a possible release in 2013, Dauman said.
Star Trek 2 had originally been slated to release on June 29, 2012.
If waiting makes it better then I’m happy to wait till 2014 if I have to. I think they learned the lesson from pumping out too much junky trek for all those years. I want quality, not quantity.
This isnt really news…… we all knew this months ago.
Yes, we know about these delays. Bottomline, with all the over thinking and over analyzing by Abrams and Paramount, they better hope this ends becoming like top 3 Trek movies of all time. The problem here, Paramount can do whatever they want, because they know fan base will never be indanger. Ugh! I hate movie politics.
The problem I’m afraid is that “quality” for the average moviegoer – who is a teenager – translates into sexy curves, lots of explosions, dumb and predictable dialogue and no human-beings-over-30-on-the-screen-please as if the universe was populated by people who spend too much time in the gym and not enough reading books… And please, keep it simple… Tss… Uhura is a dumb chick with a vulgar laugh with oral skills other than linguistic… Chekov is a total geek… Should we even talk about Scotty who is a parody of the Montgomery Scott that usually took command – and very seriously so – when Kirk and Spock were on away missions in the original series? I cannot expect much for ST2 – 12… I mean, these guys can write great stories (Fringe is great), but they are capable of the absolute worst (Transformers anyone?)… Lost has gone nowhere fast, and Super 8 lacked cohesion… Paramount will play it safe, and that mean an action-packed movie for people with an IQ of 95 who believe starships must maneuver in space like airplanes in the atmosphere… **sigh**
Got to ask, why on Vulcan are you referring to it as Star Trek 2? It’s ST12!
dont worry be happy
They haven’t numbered Trek movies since Star Trek VI. This is a whole new line of Trek movies. The Next Generation movies should’ve been called Star Trek The Next Generation – The Motion Picture, Star Trek The Next Generation II – First Contact, Star Trek: The Next Generation III – Insurrection, Star Trek: The Next Generation IV – Nemesis. It might have been better for business for those movies if they did that. These movies are a whole new line. Calling it Star Trek XII would just further confuse the people.
Dammit, Jim!! First The Man of Steel, now Star Trek II!
