Abrams Wants Del Toro In Trek 2

1 min read

J.J. Abrams confirmed that he would like to have Benicio Del Toro in Star Trek 2, although he is mum regarding what role the actor would play.

Del Toro and Abrams are still trying to work out a deal to get Del Toro for the Trek sequel. “Well, we’re just in negotiations,” said Abrams. “We’re in discussions. It’s not even negotiations—just in discussion. But I would love to work with him. I’ve wanted to work with him for years, and this felt like a good opportunity.”

Not unexpectedly, Abrams wouldn’t talk about what role Del Toro might take in Star Trek 2. “It’s too early to talk about what the role is,” Abrams said, “but he’s such an amazing actor. He’s so versatile. He could do anything.”

In other Star Trek 2 news, Chris Pine spoke about the possibility of a William Shatner return. “It just isn’t, quite honestly, my decision to make,” he said. “I think Mr. Shatner will forever be Captain Kirk. I think it would be, certainly, an interesting thing to bring him back. I don’t know if he necessarily wants to at this point or not. But it’s not my decision.”

  1. he can come back as a Ferrengi, trying to give DS9 the best hollowsuite and transport deals.

  2. At this point, it gets pretty annoying every time I read a post of non-news regarding whether or not William Shatner will be in one of the new Trek movies. It’s clear yet another person interviewing Pine is just tossing that question out there like beating a dead horse. Then again, this is the, what, 6th article on this site regarding the maybe-Del-Toro’s-attached-to-Trek-2 post on this website? Seriously, wait until there’s something substantive for once. Waste. Of. Time.

  3. If they’re wanting to use a character from the original series, I could definitely see Del Toro as Kang.
