Fans interested in knowing where Star Trek 2 filming is taking place this week have their answer courtesy of Locations Hollywood.
Locations Hollywood tweeted this weekend regarding the forthcoming filming for Star Trek 2. “Star Trek filming will be on location @Budweiser Brewery, Sony Studios, Dodger Stadium, Long Beach City Hall, MCAS Tustin [Marine Corps Air Station Tustin] & the Vasquez Rocks.”
The Budweiser Brewery is probably being used for scenes in the Enterprise’s engine room.
Fans of the original series are very familiar with Vasquez Rocks, which were used in several episodes including Arena, Shore Leave, Friday’s Child and The Alternative Factor. The Vasquez Rocks were used in other Trek series and movies, including Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and more recently Star Trek XI.

The Budgeneering again? What a joke…
Hope the budgineering set appears early in the movie in an epic battle in which all but the saucer section of the the Enterprise is destroyed. We then flash forward to a refit enterprise which looks like the classic NCC-1701 with a proper engineering set.
They’re filming at Dodger Stadium? I wonder what those scenes are going to be. Baseball isn’t the first thing I think of when I’m thinking about various plots for the new movie.
They filmed some scenes there from the last movie against a green screen. It was pretty much just for the outside lighting.
The brewery engine room was an embarrassment, and I wish they would not continue it.
Hey, glad to see I’m not the only one who’s annoyed about the Brewery being used again.
Age of steam? Brewery? I think you misinterpreted what they were trying to do.
I know the Enterprise has all that antimatter and dilithium crystals, but for the impulse drive (and ship power) it uses fusion reactors – and always has. So in essence, starships have always been power stations – but that has always been glossed over and prettied up into some sort of futuristic sci-fi look.
What Abhrams did was basically forget the glossy sci-fi look (plenty of that on the bridge after all) and instead gave us a functional power station. Engineering looked like a power plant – complete with all the water cooling tubes – because THAT is what Engineering essentially is! The look and interpretation is bold and radically different from all that we have been used to, and takes some getting used to, I’ll grant – but it IS appropriate, when you think about it.
In the 1960’s, 80’s and so on we have seen trek go through many stages. I think that the reputation of the old trek world is not gone. The people, and the technology has been altered but the soul that Gene Roddenbury planted in his creation is still there. I for one am happy for J.J. Abrams version. I am just happy to see Star Trek back on the big screen again.

Right now, today (4/24/2012), they are filming at Crystal Cathedral in Orange, CA all day if you want to check it out.
All of these locations are the exact ones used in the last film, not the sequel. This article is wrong.
