Trek 2 Actors Update Movie Progress
2 min readChris Pine and Benedict Cumberbatch spoke about their recent work on Star Trek 2, including progress on the film and preparations for playing one of the characters.
When it comes to Star Trek 2, fans can expect plenty of action and an exciting film according to the actor playing Captain Kirk. “It’s just as action-packed at the first one,” Pine said.
“Of course I’m gonna tell you I think it’s gonna be better,” Pine said. “You pick up the characters from where they left off, and the development of the characters — I think — is just as exciting as the first one.
“And it’s relentless. I think that’s the best adjective I can use.”
Shooting on Star Trek 2 is coming to an end. “We’re almost done,” said Pine, echoing what an unnamed crewmember said recently. “It’s wrapping up very soon.”
Newcomer Cumberbatch spoke about preparing for his work on Star Trek 2, which included a hair color change. “I’m getting my hair dyed at the moment, at work,” he revealed in a phone interview with Zap2it.
“The movie goes very well,” said Cumberbatch. “It’s very, very long hours, but it’s an incredible job. It’s phenomenal. J.J. brings it. It’s a very exciting set to be on. He’s very imaginative. He’s involved in the details, the acting and all the wonderful ideas he has for capturing stories in a fresh and imaginative way.
“Just the range of stuff I get to do in one day, it’s great. Also, what he’s asking me, it’s just wonderful. I can’t say much nicer than that. I’m basically raving about it, and I don’t have a gun pointed to my head.”
Cumberbatch also spoke briefly about his character, saying that “he’s strong; I can say that much.”
In other Star Trek 2 news, the name of the movie may change in the months to come, but for now, it’s still Star Trek 2. A production hat, which can be seen at Collider, shows a number two and an Enterprise on it.
Seriously, Abrams is even keeping the NAME of the movie a secret?
He has his reasons. That’s good enough.
“The Wrath of Lens Flare”
“The Search for Budweiser”
It’s not ‘Trek 2’. We had that one, okay?
It’s Trek 12. Like your tag says.
Guess what, everybody?
I’m sorry, but no. That’s just him being silly.
It’s no secret. They’re just going to tack a ‘2’ on the end of it. Lazy-ass sequel name syndrome. Creativity is long dead in Hollywood, thoguh they keep sodomizing the corpse.
I hate to break this to you, but the fucking lazy and uncreative suits, not to mention a director who makes a decent film but could give less of a shit what it’s called, are just going to tack a ‘2’ on it and call it smart. Their rationale is a) well the earlier film had a colon:subtitle on it, and that’s good enough; b) today’s retarded viewers would just be confused by a complicated name like ‘Star Trek Returns’ or ‘Star Trek Flares A Lense’, and the’yd by and large be right; and c) “that old crap was thirty years ago, so who’d even remember or give a shit anyway.”
I was looking forward to this film, but suddenly I’m filled with a desire for Ricardo Montalban’s vengeful spirit to rise from the grave and wreak havoc and misery on all involved. Anybody have a black cockerel and some chalk for a pentagram?
I don’t think they’re going to call it “Star Trek 2”. I think they’re pulling something of a “Blue Harvest” (as Lucas did with one of the Star Wars movies) with those caps.
I hope they come up with a name other than a number. I hate number movies even if I like the movie.
I think they are going to call it Star Trek
I really hope so, but I doubt it.
I am a HUGE fan of Star Trek. Always have been. You guys are super picky and need to enjoy what they are bringing! They obviously work very hard and have done their homework! Quit sitting at home judging! They are keeping trek alive and with a renewed sense of awe. As far as the “lens flare” … I love it, it brings a depth and realness to it. If you don’t like it….keep watching reruns of the 79. As for us true fans (not crazed) – we love it and cannot wait for this Trek 2, 12, or whatever you wish to call it (it is an alternate timeline btw). Sheeeesh! Good job to the “new” Trek crew!
“Stuff Shaun of the Dead in a Water Pipe and Call it a Day”
I am also a huge Trek fan, lifelong, and I also enjoyed the last movie. I think they did a hell of a job.
I will still rail against the hideous overuse of lense flares because it is visually painful and it clutters up the screen. A few lens flares, fine, but he overdid it to the point of absurdity. I also don’t think “alternate timeline” is a good enough reason to just tack a “2” on it and pat yourself on the back for cleverness.
