Takei Posting His Facebook Page? Not Always

The original series’ George Takei‘s Facebook page is very popular, but Takei is not always providing the material for his page.
Rick Polito, a comedy TV writer, spilled the beans and admitted that he is paid to provide jokes for the FB page.
“Even at ten dollars a joke it still feels like a validation to see so many people reacting to my humor,” said Polito. “I have written jokes that got ten likes per second for hours. The power of George is unbelievable. His fans are a viral army. He may not be a stockholder, but he owns Facebook.”
Takei was unfazed by the revelation. “What is this hoo-ha about my FB posts?” he said, via email. “I have Brad, my husband, to help me and interns to assist. What is important is the reliability of my posts being there to greet my fans with a smile or a giggle every morning. That’s how we keep on growing.”
When Takei is traveling, his team posts items previously written by the actor, and outsiders provide “meme-style” funny photos, but “the commentaries [on the photos] are mine,” said Takei. “They are authentically mine; I assure you.”
