Shatner’s Wackydoodle

1 min read

A new The Next Generation documentary from William Shatner finally has a title, Wackydoodle.

Wackydoodle will “explore…[the] early years of power struggle between Roddenberry [and] Paramount.”

The name came from the atmosphere on the set of The Next Generation during its earliest days. “It’s all about power,” said Shatner, interviewed at last week’s Comic-Con. “It was so crazed and chaotic (on the TNG set), that someone referred to it as ‘wackydoodle.'”

Wackydoodle is expected to have appearances from some of the TNG stars, including Jonathan Frakes, Denise Crosby, John de Lancie, and Diana Muldaur (Dr. Pulaski).

“This one’s going to be better than ever,” said Shatner. “I am learning the process. Doing a documentary is like doing a story. You don’t know what the story is until you’re halfway through it. A killed B, I guess, and you’re able to sleuth it.

“That’s the same as doing the documentary. You get halfway through the process, and you go, ‘Oh my God,’ that’s what that is about!”

Wackydoodle is expected to be released later this autumn.

  1. It would’ve been cool to have a Shatner/Stewart Audio Commentary as an optional track… 😀

  2. I’m glad there was an explanation. From the title I thought Shatner had made a documentary about his junk.

  3. I love her! TNG would have been a better show if they’d kept Pulaski around, even if they had to bring back Crusher due to fan pressure. Pulaski was a much more interesting character.
