Nine episodes of the show, written by Perrotta and Damon Lindelof, have been ordered by HBO. Cast will include  Justin Theroux as Chief of Police Kevin Garvey, Christopher Eccleston as a former minister, Carrie Coon as wife and mother Nora Durst, Amanda Warren as a town mayor, Ann Dowd as the leader of a local chapter of the Guilty Remnant, a cult-like movement, Amy Brenneman, Chris Zylka, Margaret Qualley, Emily Meade, Michael Gaston, Max Carver, Charlie Carver, Annie Q, Paterson Joseph, and Brad Leland.

The Leftovers will be produced by Warner Bros. TV, with Lindelof as executive producer/showrunner, and Perrotta, Ron Yerxa, Albert Berger, Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey also executive producing. Berg will direct.
