Oberlin Music has announced the release of a CD version of Dr. Seuss’ The Sneetches, a symphonic poem for narrator and symphony orchestra, narrated by John de Lancie.

The Sneetches is a story about prejudice and bigotry, where the Sneetches with stars on their bellies believe that they’re superior to those without the stars.

This version of the classic Seuss tale features Lorenzo Palomo‘s original score by the Oberlin Orchestra and the narration by de Lancie.

“Lorenzo Palomo takes a children’s story and brings it alive with music,” said David H. Stull, the former dean of the Oberlin Conservatory. “It’s important as a parable for addressing many of the challenges we face today.”

Dr. Seuss’ The Sneetches can be ordered via Amazon or downloaded from the iTunes store.
