Voyager Bridge Via The Oculus Rift
1 min readStar Trek fans can tour the bridge of the USS Voyager via the Oculus Rift.
The Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset currently under development which allows gamers to “step inside their favorite games [to] completely immerse themselves in the virtual world.”
The USS Voyager bridge program was created by Thomas Kadlec. “I’m a huge Oculus Rift fan, Star Trek fan, and Unreal Engine 4 [software framework for the development of video games] fan,” he said. “So I just figured I’d mix those all together!”
The USS Voyager bridge demo allows a viewer to “walk around a fairly accurate recreation of the Voyager’s bridge … [staring] out into space as you whiz past distant stars.”
Wow!! Beautiful work!
Indeed! Very nicely done!
FAIRLY accurate? Looks pretty dead-on to me. It also reminds me how I always thought that Tuvok’s and Kim’s stations would be perfect little nooks in which to hang out and chill out of sight of the captain, if only they had chairs.
Ops and tactical also had chairs, just like all other stations on the bridge.
Its beautiful work for sure. What in world are they going to do with it? Make a new game?
Do I even have to say it? 😉
