His competition for best actor is: Steve Carell (Foxcatcher), Bradley Cooper (American Sniper), Michael Keaton (Birdman), and Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything).

The Imitation Game is up for seven other Oscars, in the following categories: Best motion picture of the year, Performance by an actress in a supporting role (Keira Knightley), Achievement in directing (Morten Tyldum), Achievement in film editing (William Goldenberg), Achievement in music written for motion pictures (Original score) (Alexandre Desplat), Achievement in production design (Maria Djurkovic; Set Decoration: Tatiana Macdonald), and Adapted screenplay (Graham Moore).

The 87th Academy Awards will take place February 22.

  1. It’s a curious choice of words to call Cumberbatch a “guest actor,” as that’s TV terminology. In a film, what makes one actor more of a guest than any other?

  2. The actor who actually earned the nomination should get their photo posted here – not JJ and Pine.

  3. It’s a shame that any awards the Imitation Game may receive will be because of some message about homosexuality rather than it being a legitimately excellent film.

  4. Agreed. He’s a good actor but you must admit his Khan was a pale “imitation” of the original.

  5. I felt like keeping the suspense ’til people clicked on the article. It was a deliberate choice.

  6. who cares? nu-trek sucks. C-batch should be highly embarrassed to be associated with that POS.
…keep beating that dead horse, bonzer! maybe nu-trek 3 will ACTUALLY go into production! LOL!

  7. Coy headlines should just be regarded as clickbait.
