Hurley Passes

Writer/Producer Maurice Hurley has died at the age of seventy-five.
Hurley wrote/co-wrote early episodes of The Next Generation and became a co-producer on the series.
Hurley wrote or co-wrote the following The Next Generation episodes: Hide and Q, Datalore, 11001001, Heart of Glory, The Arsenal of Freedom, The Neutral Zone, The Child, Time Squared, Q Who, Shades of Grey, Galaxy’s Child, and Power Play.
Born in 1939 in Boston, Massachusetts, Hurley wrote for shows such as The Equalizer, Miami Vice, La Femme Nikita, Baywatch, and 24.
“We lost one of Star Trek‘s most talented minds yesterday,” said Rick Berman. “Maurice Hurley produced seasons one and two of TNG. He was one of a kind. So very sad.”

It’s too bad the timing. Mr. Hurley’s death is going to be overshadowed by Mr. Nimoy’s death. He may not have been Spock, but Maurice Hurley still had his part to play is the Trek legacy. My best to his family.
