Actress Cast In Trek 3 Role
1 min readSofia Boutella has been signed to appear in Star Trek 3.
The Algerian-born actress was last seen as a “blade-legged assassin” in Kingsman: The Secret Service.
According to Deadline, Boutella has a lead role in the movie, but there is no word yet as to what that role would be or whether she’s on the side of the Federation or aligned with/a villain. One could easily see her as a Klingon or Romulan.
Star Trek 3 will be released July 8, 2016.

With those lovely dark eyes, she’d make a great Vulcan. I’d love to see the rebuilding of New Vulcan (or an undoing of the destruction of Vulcan in the first place).
They not yet had a substantial female supporting part (all respect to Zoe Saldana’s performance), but hope springs eternal.
I’d go with both.
She’s also got a fierce Klingon look to her. I can see that as an option too.
Yes, definitely. I just keep hoping for a plot that revolves around other sorts of difficulties than a Villain with a capital “V.” “The Devil in the Dark” was one of my favorite episodes, and the villain there was lack of communication and misunderstanding, rather than an Evil Mastermind. I also liked “The Voyage Home,” in which the villain was human selfishness or short-sightedness, rather than a Bad Guy.
I know this is a pipe dream — the reboot movies are ACTION movies, so we’ll almost certainly have a villain — but Star Trek taught me to dream, so I still do. 🙂
Well they had a substantial Uhura in 2009, and then reduced her to a nagging stereotype in Star Trek Into Bad Sitcoms.
I can get behind that. Well, in my dreams at least.
I have some hope with Pegg. He can be an arsehole with a capital arse, but he’s shown in other projects a better grasp of not only Trek storytelling, but storytelling in general than, say, some asshats named Kurtzman, Orci, and Lindelof. So, I remain cautiously optimistic.
For the moment.
Yeah, I’m glad Pegg’s writing it. The studio has its wishes, though, which he’ll have to honor to at least some extent. It’s not Pegg I distrust; it’s Paramount.
LOL!
