The new Star Trek Beyond set features at least five giant green screens, and a very large wooden structure.

Kent Hangar Field, which is west of Vancouver‘s International Airport, has been used before for filming. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Elysium, Godzilla, and Tomorrowland all filmed there.

In other Star Trek Beyond news, guest actress Sofia Boutella, who is speculated to be playing an alien character, was seen around town wearing a long white ponytail. The actress is a brunette.

  1. Hangar is spelled incorrectly. (The second time the word appears, it is right.)

  2. How do we know that the field is not named for a gentleman named “Kent Hanger’ and that therefore the first is correct and the second one is not?

  3. white hair, plus the report that her makeup made her “almost unrecognizable” — could sofia be playing an andorian?

  4. Interesting. The “large wooden structure” seems to be a landscape, but the fact they’re not just using an existing one suggests this world will be very different to ours.
