Star Trek IDW Publishing Comics For December
2 min readFour Star Trek comics will make their debut in December.
The comics from IDW Publishing include Star Trek #52, Star Trek Green Lantern #6, Star Trek: The John Byrne Collection, and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy #1.
Star Trek #52—Five-Year Mission will conclude the Mirror Universe story, as “Kirk and Spock from the new movies face off against their evil doppelgangers with the fate of two realities at stake. Who will live, who will die, and what role will the Mirror Universe Khan play in the endgame?”
Written by Mike Johnson with art and a cover by Tony Shasteen, the thirty-two page issue will sell for $3.99. There will be an Archie Anniversary variant cover by Dan Parent.
Star Trek/Green Lantern #6 will conclude the Star Trek/Green Lantern crossover. In this issue, “the dead have risen. Heroes have fallen. The last survivors of Starfleet and the Lantern Corps join together to fight the greatest threat the galaxy has ever known. Who will be left standing?”
Written by Mike Johnson, with art by Angel Hernandez, and a cover by Stephen Mooney, the thirty-two page issue will cost $3.99. Look for variant covers.
Star Trek: The John Byrne Collection features a “collection of tales from the final frontier includ[ing] Alien Spotlight: Romulans, Assignment: Earth, Romulans: Balance of Terror, Romulans: The Hollow Crown, Crew, Romulans: Schism, and Leonard McCoy, [and] Frontier Doctor.”
Written by and featuring art by John Byrne, the four-hundred-and-eighty-eight page issue will cost $34.99.
Finally, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy #1 will make its debut, the first of a five part series. In this issue, a “bold new chapter for Star Trek kicks off with issue #1 of this all-new series that shows fans what life is like for cadets at the galaxy’s greatest school. Witness the student days of the iconic cast before they joined the Enterprise, immediately before the blockbuster 2009 film. Plus, meet an all-new group of students as they embark on bold new adventures of their own.”
Written by Mike Johnson and Ryan Parrott, with art and cover by Derek Charm, the thirty-two page issue will cost $3.99.
I just love the idea of the comics about the Academy and it has so much potential, and I’m looking forward to read those more than the mirror story (again?) for the 50th anniversary.
As an FYI, the last Byrne comic’s title is “Leonard McCoy, Frontier Doctor,” so the “[and]” should be removed.
