Campanella Passes
1 min readJoe Campanella, who guest-starred as the Federation Arbitrator on Star Trek: Voyager’s: Author, Author, has passed away at the age of ninety-three.
Born in NYC in 1924, Campanella came from a large Sicilian family and his first language was Italian. He served in the Navy during World War II.
After the war, he received a degree in English literature and went to grad school for speech and drama. While in grad school, the New York Giants baseball team offered him a contract, but he turned it down.
Campanella was a stuntman before appearing in the 1950s in shows such as Studio One, Kraft Theatre and Philco Playhouse. After that, he worked regularly, appearing on many shows, including ones such as The Untouchables, Route 66, The Lieutenant, The Big Valley, The Wild Wild West, the Fugitive, The Virginian, Night Gallery, Marcus Welby, M.D., The FBI, Mannix, Gunsmoke, Ironside, Medical Center, Barbary Coast, Fantasy Island, One Day at a Time, The Love Boat, Dallas, Knots Landing, Walker, Texas Ranger, Spider Man, Melrose Place and more.
He also could be seen on various soap operas, including The Guiding Light, The Doctors, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Days of Our Lives.
Married to singer-dancer Jill Bartholomew in 1964, Joe was the father of seven sons. He is survived by his wife, children and his eight grandchildren.
