Goldberg: Pneumonia Almost Killed Me

1 min read

Fans of The View have noticed the one-month absence of Whoopi Goldberg. There was a reason for her absence; she was fighting for her life after catching pneumonia.

In a prerecorded video that was aired on The View today, Goldberg explained what had happened. “Hey, yes, it’s me,” she said. “I am here.” I am up and moving around. Not as fast as I’d like to be, but I am okay. I’m not dead. So here’s what happened. I had pneumonia and I was septic. Pneumonia in both lungs, which mean there was fluid, there was all kinds of stuff going on.

“And yes, I came very, very close to leaving the Earth. Good news, I didn’t. Thank you for all of your good wishes. And all of the wonderful things that you have been saying.”

Her last appearance on The View was on February 6.

Best wishes to Goldberg for a full recovery.
