Orci To Receive Writer’s Award

1 min read

On Friday, August 21, Star Trek XI Co-writer Roberto Orci will be honored at the Twenty-Fourth Annual Imagen Awards in Beverly Hills, California.

As reported by Variety and Imagen.org, Orci, who will receive the Norman Lear Writer’s Award, is one of four honorees receiving special awards from the Imagen Foundation, joining motion picture agent Emmanuel Nuñez (Lifetime Achievement,) television executive producer and writer Silvio Horta (Creative Achievement,) and Latino community leader Dolores Huerta (Presidents Award.)

The Imagen Awards honor positive portrayals of Latinos and Latino culture in entertainment.

“This year’s selection of special honorees is indicative of the strides that Latinos have made, and continue to make, throughout the entertainment industry,” said Imagen Foundation President and Founder, Helen Hernandez. “These incredibly talented individuals are a source of inspiration for all, regardless of background, and we look forward to honoring them and their achievements at this year’s Imagen Awards gala.”

Although pleased about the award, Orci admitted it was strange to win an award without writing partner Alex Kurtzman. “It’s the first time I’ve ever been singled out without Alex,” he said. “So it does feel bizarre.”
