Nimoy: Probably Finished With Spock

2 min read

As he approaches his seventy-ninth birthday, Leonard Nimoy admitted that his Star Trek days are probably finished.

At a time when most who can retire do so, Nimoy is still working; with his photography, acting and attending the occasional convention. But don’t count on seeing Mr. Spock on the big screen anymore.

“I don’t see it happening,” said Nimoy about the chances of playing Spock again. “I’m comfortable. I’m not glad, I’m not sad. I feel like I’ve had a great ride with the character. . . we started making Star Trek pilots in 1964. I’ve been involved in Star Trek for forty-four, forty-five years. It’s been a wonderful ride for me and it’s been great for my family. We got to do some very interesting work outside of Star Trek because of Star Trek and I’m very satisfied.”

Nimoy may not be doing much acting in the future either, preferring to be involved with his photography. When asked if his role of Dr. William Bell in J.J. Abrams’ Fringe would be his last role, Nimoy said, “I certainly hope so. I’ve been doing it long enough, so I hope so. I’ve had a great, great run and I have no unfulfilled dreams or aspirations.”

This year will be Nimoy’s last for attending conventions too, he said earlier in the month. “I think this is the last year I will do this,” he said. “It’s exciting, but I think I’ve done enough of it. I’m looking forward to concentrating on my personal life.”

Nimoy, who has an appearance today in Vulcan, Canada, will be in attendance at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo on April 24 and 25.
