The crew of the Enterprise will find themselves caught in an interstellar conflict in 'The Andorian Incident', it was announced yesterday.
UPN released their official synopsis of the episode, which will air on October 31. Courtesy of Psi Phi, a copy of the description has been made available online:
The Enterprise crew pays a friendly visit to an ancient Vulcan spiritual sanctuary, despite T'Pol's concerns that her human colleagues will be an awkward and disruptive presence there. Upon landing, they discover that the monastery has been forcibly taken over by the Andorians, a paranoid and highly excitable race of aliens with a long history of conflict with the Vulcans. Archer soon discovers that the Enterprise crew has gotten in the middle of an interstellar Pandora's Box and now must find a way out.
'The Andorian Incident's' teleplay was written by series consulting producer Fred Dekker, based on a story by Dekker and creators Rick Berman & Brannon Braga. The producing team have so far contributed to the story or teleplay of every Enterprise episode officially announced by UPN.
Roxann Dawson (B'Elanna Torres) directed the episode, her third Trek outing. Prior to this, she helmed 'Riddles' and 'Workforce, Part II' on Voyager.
The full list of guest cast members has also been released, and includes a number of other Trek alumni in addition to the previously announced Jeffrey Combs (Weyoun) as an Andorian terrorist:
- Jeffrey Combs as Shran
- Bruce French as Vulcan Elder
- Steven Dennis as Tholos
- Jeff Ricketts as Keval
- Richard Tanner as Vulcan Initiate
- Jamie McShane as Tactical Crewman
French has had three prior Trek roles - Sabin Genestra in TNG's 'The Drumhead,' a Son'a officer in 'Insurrection' and the Ocampa doctor in Voyager's 'Caretaker.' Dennis is a four-time Voyager guest star, having appeared in minor roles in the episodes 'Night,' 'Think Tank,' 'Warehead,' and 'Equinox.'
Apart from Porthos, Ricketts is currently the only guest star to have appeared in more than one Enterprise episode, having previously played the Axanar captain in 'Fight Or Flight.'
A former General Hospital castmember, Tanner's other roles include guest shots on NYPD Blue and The West Wing. McShane has appeared on series such as C.S.I. and Angel.
The Andorians were originally introduced in the Original Series episode, 'Journey To Babel,' but they have been updated for Enterprise. "The Andorians were probably the silliest looking aliens in Star Trek," said executive producer Brannon Braga. "So we thought it would be cool to update the look. The new costuming and makeup is extremely impressive. [We'll] also explore the culture a bit" (story).
The original report can be found here at Psi Phi. 'The Andorian Incident' airs October 31 on UPN. Further information can be found in the TrekNation episode guide.
