Mulgrew To Star in Shakespeare Play

1 min read

Kate Mulgrew, Star Trek Voyager‘s Captain Janeway, will portray another strong woman when she takes on the role of Cleopatra in William Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra.

William Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra will open at the Hartford Stage in Connecticut this October, during the 47th season for the Hartford Stage.

Mulgrew, who celebrates her fifty-fifth birthday tomorrow, isn’t the first fifty-something to take on the role of Cleopatra. Katharine Hepburn took on the role of the sultry temptress in 1960 when she was fifty-three years old.

Tina Landau will be directing the play. No word yet on who will be playing Antony.
