In Star Trek #19, readers will learn why Star Trek‘s Montgomery Scott went into engineering as a profession.

IDW Publishing’s Star Trek #19 had just been released, and fans can see an online preview before going out to pick up their own copies of the comic.

Written by Mike Johnson and overseen by Roberto Orci, Star Trek #19 features art by Claudia Balboni and covers by Tim Bradstreet. The thirty-two page issue will sell for $3.99.

Not exactly, but the skills required– such as problem-solving skills, the ability to see a design in your head, hand/eye coordination, mathematics, a feel for tools and materials– are all inheritable. Having those skills will typically make you want to use them, and that will draw you towards jobs that require them.
    My father is an electronics engineer, his father designed and repaired cooling systems, my mother’s father designed wellheads and drill bits. I am proud to carry on as a product engineer for a major corporation, and as a craftsman and artisan in my spare time.
    Yes, this definitely looks interesting, I may just have to pick it up.
