Last night, MTV released a new clip from Star Trek into Darkness featuring Zachary Quinto, John Cho, and Zoe Saldana.
The clip was taken from the “volcano” scene part of the movie and contains some footage not seen before. Spoilers are in the clip.
In the clip, Spock narrowly escapes death.

Again the similarities to Star Wars continues. It looks the same as the final lightsabre dual between Anakin SkyWalker and Obi-Wan Konobi in Star Wars III, over the lava pits of Mustafar. I think that JJ have used all of this to promote Star Episode VII as his next film, or even explained some of the plot lines in Star Trek to get the job for Star Wars.
I think once the dust settles down after the hype of STIN (Star Trek Into Darkness) dies down, there will be great debates on the comparisons rip-offs between the two franchises.
In Episode 7, an aged Luke Skywalker will travel back in time to reboot the prequels, thus negating his own existence. Oh, and in the new continuity, Jar Jar turns out to be his real father.
Looks similar to Star Wars because it’s in a volcano? I guess Dante’s Peak and Return of the King look like Star Wars too lol.
More like the lava flowing past in a river. Yes, it could also be a homage to “Lord of the Rings : Return of the King” and the Mt Doom lava flowing past Sam and Frodo before they are rescued by the eagles. (They would have been burnt to a crisp in Dante’s peak and Star Wars!)
