Zachary Quinto has signed on for a role in Michael, the story of an “ex-gay activist.”

Michael portrays the life of Michael Glatze, who renounced his homosexuality later in life and married a woman.

The lead role will be played by James Franco, with Quinto playing his ex-boyfriend. Emma Roberts plays Michael’s love interest.

““This isn’t just a story about an ‘ex-gay,’ said Director Justin Kelly. “It’s actually a very relatable story about the power of belief and the desire to belong.”

“I’m excited that everyone involved in this project is intent on telling a story that captures the full breadth of Michael’s unusual life, from the inspiring gay leader I knew when I was young to the Christian pastor he is today,” said Benoit Denizet-Lewis, who wrote “My Ex-Gay Friend,” an article about Glatze.

  1. I hope that guy’s wife is named Jo or Chris or Pat, otherwise I bet there’s been some very awkward moments.

  2. Quinto is an excellent actor, and it’ll be interesting to see him playing a realistic character, as opposed to Sylar or Spock or Oliver Thredson.

  3. She’s not, and the most awkward moment is yet to come– the day that he is finally caught behind the woodshed with a dick in his mouth.

  4. I’m curious to see what he and James Franco see in this man’s story. Glatze is as rabidly fervent as any convert, and he’s said a lot of vile and hateful things since his er, conversion. It’s a story very much in progress, but I don’t see it ending well.

  5. *nod* It’ll be interesting to see what they do with it. I’m assuming Glatze’s conversion will be played so as to show him as a misguided, self-deluding crank, but if he hasn’t yet recanted on his conversion, it seems as if it would be all too easy for things to end badly.

  6. There was a time when one would recommend a video store. Now, I’d probably say Pirate Bay.

  7. It turns out that one can rent it from Amazon for $2.99. Haven’t seen
it yet, but hope to, the next time I have a couple of hours free. I
thought I’d pass that along, so you can recommend something other than
Pirate Bay the next time “Margin Call” comes up in conversation. 😉
