Zachary Quinto has been cast in an Oliver Stone drama about Edward Snowden.

The unnamed film will tell the story of Snowden and his leak of NSA files.

Quinto will take on the role of Glenn Greenwald, “the journalist who worked with Snowden to report on his revelations for The Guardian.”

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play Snowden. Others cast in the film are Shailen Woodley as Snowden’s girlfriend Lindsay Mills, Melissa Leo as filmmaker Laura Poitras, and Tom Wilkinson as Guardian journalist Ewan MacAskill.

Both Snowden and Greenwald continue to protest government surveillance, most recently against proposed Canadian terrorism legislation. “Your government continuously hypes the threat and tells you that unless you give it more and more power it will be incapable of saving you from this threat,” said Greenwald. “And this fearmongering is a very dangerous, yet very effective form of persuading people to submit to things you otherwise wouldn’t submit to.”

The movie will be starting production soon. No release date has been announced yet.
