A Star Trek-themed range of Mega Bloks will be arriving next year.

Mega Bloks are compatible with Legos.

MEGA Brands, a member of the Mattel family…announces new partnerships with some of the world’s top entertainment brands to expand its Mega Bloks construction portfolio. Mega Bloks will broaden its current product offering of global favorites…to add new highly-detailed sets and movie-inspired lines for fans of all ages.

Mega Bloks has also expanded its licensing partnership with CBS Consumer Products to introduce a range of Mega Bloks Star Trek limited edition collectors construction sets, to launch in 2016.”

There hasn’t been a Star Trek-themed Mega Blok set since over a decade ago, when a The Next Generation set debuted (shown above).

No word yet on just what will be included in the release, but TrekToday will update readers when more information becomes available.

  1. Guess Trek didn’t work out so well for Hasbro’s Kre-O line.

If it’s anything like the Mega Bloks’ Halo or World of Warcraft lines, this new Trek line could totally rule, IMO…

  2. *sigh* So yet again, Star Trek just can’t seem to land it with LEGO. First KRE-O and now Mega Blocks.

Also, just as a point of clarification, the article refers to “Mattel’s Legos.” LEGO is their own independent company.

  3. To be fair, Kre-O was making Nu-Trek toys. TOS and TNG Trek might have a better time of it.

Starfleet ships don’t translate into Lego very easily. That Ent-D is a pretty good effort, and I figure Klingon ships might be an easier place to start.

  4. There’s very little that can’t be done easily into Lego. Some of the Lego Star Wars vehicles are even more intricately designed than Trek ships.

  5. It’s not. I used the picture (and said it was from the old line) because no new pictures of the new line have been released yet.

    Sorry to disappoint.

  6. Just like Bass Guitar Hero said, Lego can make just about anything and make it good. Mega Bloks just needs to experiment and expand. Just look at the Lego website and their products, it is no joke. Furthermore, look on the internet at what people themselves create with the blocks available. It is insane.

  7. As soon as CBS gets their act in order and goes with LEGO, I’ll open my wallet. Not before. As a Trekkie and LEGO fan I find it painful that freaking Dr. Who is getting an official LEGO set before Star Trek. I mean what the hey?!?!

  8. I’d rather have different diameter saucers, secondary hulls and warp nacelles.
Keep the surfaces smooth and sleek–just interchange the bits.
