New Star Trek Emoji For IOS Devices

A new Apple emoji will be of interest to Star Trek fans.
The Vulcan salute emoji is now available from Apple.
Approved last autumn, the emoji can be used by iOS 8.3 and OX X 10.10.3 users, although it’s not yet on the character sheet.
IPhone users can begin using the emoji now though, by copying the emoji, pasting it into the phrase section and then creating a shortcut.

I’d like to note that this isn’t Apple specific. Emoji are part of the Unicode standard and the Vulcan salute was approved for inclusion with version 7 by the Unicode Consortium last year. Apple is one of the first to implement the new Unicode characters, but it should be coming to other devices (web browsers, Android, etc.) in future updates.
