Star Trek Timelines Game

2 min read

A new Star Trek game from Disruptor Beam will feature characters from every Star Trek era.

Star Trek Timelines allows players to “assemble the Star Trek crew of their dreams to resolve galactic conflict however they choose.”

Players will get to “explore characters, ships and scenarios familiar from The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise – plus the first ten Star Trek films; from Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) through Star Trek: Nemesis” to “solve problems using their unique skills and abilities.”

The game promises “hundreds of familiar and iconic characters,” including Kirk, Spock, Wolf, Wesley Crusher, Q, Locutus of Borg, Sisko, Janeway, T’Pol and more. The mechanism for getting together the characters from all of the Trek incarnations will be temporal anomalies, mirror universes and time travel.

The game won’t be all ship and space battles, but also exploration and politics. Players can “explore the galaxy, making decisions that impact the fate of friends, rivals and entire civilizations through diplomacy, technology, or force of arms.”

“We feel that a combat-oriented game wouldn’t really capture the vision of Star Trek,” said Disruptor Beam CEO Jon Radoff. “Instead, we’re going to focus on giving you beautiful vistas of outer space, artistic renderings of your favorite characters, and a conflict mechanic where science and diplomacy are just as important as your ability to fire photon torpedoes. This means that some aspects of the game will be more ‘abstract’ than you’d experience in a first-person perspective game – but we think it’s the right way to create the right experience for Star Trek.”

Star Trek Timelines will be available for the following platforms: iOS, Android, and the web. An autumn release is planned.

  1. This new site design is horrific. PLEASE FIX IT.

PS: Does anyone have another trek news source? This used to be the best, but I’m seeing obvious trek stories missing almost every day.

How have you guys not talked about the giant leak of Star Trek Renegades? Or the response to the leak, in which the creators released it for free on youtube?

  2. The graphics don’t look so good on this game. Also the mixed timeline thing is stupid.

  3. Hm. But do you HAVE to use a mixed timeline? I’m a TOS fan. I’d just use all TOS ships & crew, if that’s an option. But if you don’t have any other option than to choose a hodgepodge of characters & ships from the various different eras and series, then I’ll pass.

  4. Yes, in that one picture, you have TOS Kirk standing in front of a late-movie-early-TNG-era Constellation/Stargazer with a TNG Romulan Warbird off in the distance. Looks very mixed timeline to me. I’ll still give it a day in court, though. If the playability is there, I won’t much care if the eras are jumbled up – especially if it’s a part of the plot.

  5. I heard that Renegades was released and planned on doing something on it today or tomorrow, in fact; (fan films are usually lower priority than other stories) but had no idea it was a “giant leak.”

  6. Just read their FB page. Tough break for them to deal with crooks!

Writing it up and you’ll get the hat tip! Thanks.
