Smithsonian Needs Fan Help

1 min read

The National Air and Space Museum is looking for help from Star Trek fans.

Specifically, they are seeking pictures or film of the original studio model of the USS Enterprise that predate 1976.

The restoration of the ship that is currently in progress will restore the Enterprise to its August 1967 appearance, during and after the production of The Trouble With Tribbles. That time frame was the last time that the model was altered throughout the original series. Prior to that modification, the model had undergone seven other major modifications since it was first built in 1964.

Fans with photos or film of the USS Enterprise prior to 1976 should email StarshipEnterprise@si.edu. No TV/DVD screencaps or online images are needed.
