Academy Nicholl Fellowships Reading Devoted To Yelchin

1 min read

A live reading of selected scenes from the five winning scripts chosen for The Nicholl Fellowships screenwriting competition will be devoted to Star Trek Beyond’s Anton Yelchin.

Amongst those doing the readings will be Yelchin’s co-star John Cho. He joins Cary Elwes, Aja Naomi King, and Alia Shawkat.

The Nicholl Fellowships is the academy’s annual, global screenwriting competition. Winners receive $35,000 and academy support toward the completion of a feature-length screenplay during their fellowship year.”

Yelchin had been part of the first Nicholl live read back in 2013.

One of Yelchin’s last movie roles was with Elwes in the soon-to-be-released We Don’t Belong Here.

The five winning scripts include: Talking About the Sky (Michele Atkins), Photo Booth (Spencer Harvey/Lloyd Harvey), Dinner With Friends (Geeta Malik), Tween the Ropes (Elizabeth Oyebode), and Death of an Ortolan (Justin Piasecki).

The reading will take place November 3 at 7:30 PM at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater, located in Beverly Hills.
