Jones On His New Star Trek: Discovery Character Saru

During an interview for his upcoming film The Bye Bye Man, Doug Jones, who will play a new alien on Star Trek: Discovery, spoke briefly about his character.
“What I can tell you,” said Jones, “is what’s already been out there. Which is I am a new breed of alien that you’ve never seen on the series before, or in any of the movies…and I’m tickled pink about. That I get to, from the ground up, help develop and find this character, and his species, and what we’re all about from the get-go instead of taking folklore that’s already existed in the franchise.”
This is a whole new thing that we get to discover together,” said Jones, “which I’m really excited about. And I will be the science officer.”
For those who were wondering, Saru is pronounced “suh-roo.”
