McKellan To Stewart: Don’t Do It!

1 min read

It’s fortunate for Trek fans that when Patrick Stewart‘s buddy Ian McKellan gave him advice regarding a role on a new Star Trek series, Stewart didn’t take that advice.

McKellan explained what had happened. “[Stewart] told me he’d been asked to sign up for seven years to Star Trek and I said, ‘don’t do it. You are a serious actor and you have a wonderful career in London.

“It’s where you belong and stay with the audience you know.”

But Stewart “paid no attention to me whatsoever and it changed his life.”

“I am sorry I gave you the wrong advice,” said McKellan to Stewart. And I am glad you didn’t take it.”

So are The Next Generation fans.
