Cromwell Cited For Trespassing

1 min read

Star Trek: First Contact‘s James Cromwell had another run-in with police, this time over his part in a protest against SeaWorld in San Diego.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the former actor wasn’t arrested though, just cited for trespassing.

Cromwell and PETA were protesting SeaWorld‘s captivity of orcas, and use of the killer whales in shows at their parks. They staged their protest at SeaWorld‘s new Orca Encounter show.

“Orcas deserve a full life in the ocean, not a life sentence of swimming endless circles until they drop dead from disease,” said Cromwell. “My friends at PETA and I want SeaWorld to move these intelligent animals to seaside sanctuaries without delay.”

On the same day, Kyara, a three-month-old killer whale, died at SeaWorld. “Kyara was being cared for at the park’s Animal Hospital surrounded by a team of dedicated staff members,” said SeaWorld, via Twitter “Despite the team’s best efforts Kyara passed earlier today, surrounded by lots of love.”

Cromwell and the other protestors were removed from the park not long after they began addressing the crowd.
