Stewart Receives Award In Dubai

The Dubai International Film Festival opened last night, and Sir Patrick Stewart received an honorary award at the opening ceremony.

Stewart received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

“Our goal at DIFF has always been to promote great cinema, and recognize incredible talent,” said Abdulhamid Juma, DIFF‘s Chairman. “This year we are truly humbled to present our Lifetime Achievement Award to Sir Patrick Stewart, whose career and contribution to cinema has made a lasting impact on the industry landscape for generations. It is our absolute pleasure to honor his incredible achievements at the festival and to welcome him to the Madinat Jumeirah for an unforgettable in conversation event with fans.”

Stewart received his award and spoke to those in attendance. “Not only Hollywood, but Europe and the outside world is in turmoil at the moment, and I believe that cinema has a role to play in bringing it to an end,” he said. “It’s an international language that everyone can appreciate and understand. Cinema can take this opportunity and move all of us forward.”
