Yelchin Family Settles With Automaker

1 min read

Anton Yelchin‘s parents has settled with Fiat Chrysler, the manufacturer of the SUV that crushed the twenty-seven-year old to death in June of 2016.

His parents had sued the automaker, claiming that the poor design of the shifter led to the fatal accident.

FCA US is pleased that we’ve reached an amicable resolution in this matter,” said Fiat Chrysler said in a statement. “The details of the settlement are confidential. We continue to extend our deepest sympathies to the Yelchin family for their tragic loss.”

Gary Dordick, who is the attorney for Yelchin’s parents, said that the money awarded would go to the Anton Yelchin Foundation. Part of it will be used for a documentary about the actor’s life.

In People Magazine, Yelchin’s publicist Jennifer Allen said, “The mission of the Foundation is to empower and support young people engaged in creative arts who face career challenges due to debilitating disease or disability.”
