2 min read

The New Zealand Mint has announced two new silver notes based on episodes from The Next Generation, and featuring episode poster art from Juan Ortiz.

The first coin comes from the third season finale The Best of Both Worlds Part I.

This note is “made from 5g of pure silver [and] is a colored and engraved replica of the episode poster artwork by renowned artist, Juan Ortiz. The note is printed with its unique number in the mintage and is presented in a protective sleeve which includes details of the note’s authenticity.

“The obverse of the note features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and is legal tender in Niue.

The Best of Both Worlds, Pt. 1 is one of the seven unique silver coin notes that make up the collection, which includes iconic episodes from each of the other seven seasons. Each note has a dedicated page in the Star Trek: The Next Generation Collector’s Album, which comes with the purchase of the Encounter at Farpoint, Pt. 1 Silver Coin Note.”

A picture of that album is shown below.

Issued by Niue, the 5 gram, 999 fine silver coin note has a face value of $1.00 and only fifty-thousand will be minted.

The two previous releases from this collection are based on Encounter at Farpoint, Pt. 1, and The Measure of a Man. Both can also be ordered from the New Zealand Mint. They also cost $39.00 each plus shipping.
