Pine: Remembering Yelchin

1 min read

At the fundraiser for the Anton Yelchin Foundation which took place Sunday evening, Chris Pine introduced the trailer for Love, Antosha and reminisced about his fellow co-actor.

“Obviously we’re here for Anton,” he told the crowd in attendance at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery for the event. “He was one of my dear friends and I felt like I was only getting a chance to know him a better one when he passed.

“The film is incredible and I think it’ll show you all different sides of the guy that I knew — this curious, fascinating, complex, strange little dude.”

Pine added that Yelchin was like a little brother to the cast, due to being about a decade younger than Pine and the rest of the actors. “We saw him grow up and continue to get stranger, more curious – [about] music and literature and photography.

“You’ll see all that in [Love, Antosha]. Tons of letters that he wrote to his family who he was close with. And it’s so touching to see how much love there is between Viktor and Irina, his parents, and Anton.

“I think it’s a great legacy for whom I had a tremendous amount of respect and for this courageous young man who just had zero fear and boundless, endless positivity and an energy for life.”

Love, Antosha will be released on August 2.
