Three Saturn Awards For Star Trek: Discovery

While your reporter was away in the North Carolina mountains, the list of winners for the 2019 Saturn Awards was released, and three of the awards went to Star Trek: Discovery.

Star Trek: Discovery took home the Saturn for Best Streaming Science Fiction, Action, and Fantasy Series, beating out Black Mirror, The Expanse, Lost in Space, Good Omens, Russian Doll, and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.

Sonequa Martin-Green won for the Best Actress in Streaming Presentation. Her other competitors in the category included Carla Gugino, Elizabeth Lail, Natasha Lyonne, Molly Parker, Krysten Ritter, and Kiernan Shipka.

And Doug Jones was the recipient for the Saturn in the Best Supporting Actor in Streaming Presentation category. His competitors included two of his fellow Discovery actors: Wilson Cruz and Ethan Peck, as well as Michiel Huisman, Timothy Hutton, Maxwell Jenkins, and Michael Sheen.

“After presenting @saturnawards or accepting on behalf of others countless times over the years,” said Jones via his Instagram account, “I am overjoyed to have taken home one of my very own for best supporting actor in a streaming series (Star Trek: Discovery). Thank you, Academy Of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror.
