Star Trek XI Replica Phaser Unveiled

1 min read

Fans of Star Trek replica weaponry will be pleased at the announcement of a Star Trek XI phaser, due out this summer.

The screen-accurate phaser was produced “from the exact same digital master” used in making the stunt phasers, said QMx CEO Andy Gore. “So the QMx replica and the actual stunt prop have precisely the same geometry and measurements.”

Access to that digital master was critical to making a good replica, according to Gore. Had they not had that access, the replica would have been made either using a “best guess” or a laser scan of one of the props seen onscreen. “But that would have meant losing a generation, as we would have been making a copy of a copy of the master,” said Gore. “It would have been slightly smaller and, unavoidably, detail would have been lost.”

The phaser replica, which will sell for $49.99, measures 10.5″ long x 7″ high and weighs more than a pound. Also included is a custom-designed display stand in smoke-colored lucite and a brass name plate.

Pre-orders are now being taken here. The replica is due to ship on June 1st.
