Ortiz May Original Series Posters
1 min readA new month means four new original series posters from Juan Ortiz.
This month’s posters include ones based on: The Menagerie Part I, Assignment: Earth, Spock’s Brain, and Requiem for Methuselah.
Ortiz spoke about his motivation in creating each poster, and he explained which of the four posters was his favorite.
In creating Spock’s Brain, much of the poster was filled with colorful swirls. “I wanted an explosion of Spock’s thoughts and knowledge,” said Ortiz. “So it had to be big in order to convey that. The idea came from watching hours of Monty Python’s Flying Circus as a kid.”
For Requiem for Methuselah, Flint is holding the Enterprise. “In the episode, Flint shrinks the Enterprise down in order to keep her crew from leaving and telling the universe about him. I thought it would make a good visual if Flint were holding it. It shows off his power and makes him more god-like than if he were empty-handed.”
Ortiz’s favorite poster is the Assignment: Earth one, for a very male reason. “I love Teri Garr,” he said.
The prints, which are sold as a set of four, sell for $34.95 and can purchased here.
