London Shoppers Beamed Up
1 min readTo promote the release of Star Trek into Darkness on DVD, Blu-ray and video-on-demand, Blinkbox and top illusionist Scott Penrose put on a transporting exhibition at London’s Westfield shopping centre.
The video, seen below, amazed a gathered crowd who saw people beamed away from one spot and sent to other parts of the mall.
“The dramatic spectacle was a stunt by top illusionist Scott Penrose and movie and TV streaming service Blinkbox to celebrate the release of the new Star Trek movie Star Trek into Darkness.
“The teleportation trickery was achieved using a combination of science and illusion. It caused a stir among thousands of shoppers who witnessed ‘volunteers’ from the crowd step into a high-tech unit and appear to have been ‘beamed’ to nearby locations in seconds.
“Star Trek Into Darkness is one of the biggest releases of the year,” said Blinkbox’s Ben Ayers. “We wanted to mark its arrival with an audacious spectacle straight out of the franchise itself – human teleportation. Since Star Trek first hit our screens, the idea of being able to teleport from one place to another, although it is not scientifically possible, has captured the public imagination.”
“The latest installment of the popular franchise is available on the Blinkbox movie streaming service over a year ahead of Netflix and Lovefilm Instant [and is] priced from £3.49 to rent and £10.99 to buy.”
I think the bigger question is where is that lollipop guild barbershop…
If only…..
They might want to be careful; I understand these things can transport people to the other side of the galaxy now.
Not in this universe…
