Takei’s Allegiance Broadway Opening Announced
1 min readThe opening date on Broadway for George Takei‘s Allegiance – A New American Musical has been announced.
Tickets for the event went on sale last Friday.
“In Allegiance – A New American Musical, the sixtieth anniversary of Pearl Harbor [brings] a meeting with a young journalist, [which] forces World War II veteran Sam Kimura [Takei] to remember his family’s relocation from their California farm to the Heart Mountain internment camp in Wyoming. As they struggle to adjust to their new home, Young Sam [Telly Leung] and his sister Kei [Lea Salonga] find themselves torn between loyalty to their family and allegiance to their country. With its moving score, Allegiance — A New American Musical takes audiences on a journey into our nation’s history through the eyes of one American family.”
Joining Takei, Salonga, and Leung will be Katie Rose Clarke (Hannah Campbell), Michael K. Lee (Frankie Suzuki), Christopheren Nomura (Tatsuo Kimura), and Greg Watanabe (Mike Masaoka).
Allegiance – A New American Musical will begin previews Oct. 6 at the Longacre Theatre at 220 West 48th Street. The official opening is set for November 8. For tickets to Allegiance – A New American Musical, head to the link located here.
Now, this is what Broadway needs instead of a another revival of the same old plays or musical that it usually does. Good luck to the cast of this musical, and I hope that it can come to Toronto (or at least a Canadian production can be mounted.)
