Star Trek Beyond Dubai Filming

1 min read

Residents in Dubai were awakened by the sound of a helicopter Friday morning.

The helicopter was in the air to shoot scenes for Star Trek Beyond.

The Sheikh Zayed Road, an eight lane highway that leads to “some of the biggest skyscrapers in town” was partially closed to facilitate the filming.

Resident Megha Merani, who lives in one of the skyscrapers, tweeted about the filming. “OK, this is getting very exciting,” she said. “They’re coming closer to my balcony!”

A set is beginning to emerge, which looks like part of a starship. To see larger photos, enlarge the thumbnails.
