Salmond: Not Kirk

1 min read

The former First Minister of Scotland ran into a problem when he tried to travel using the names James T. Kirk.

Alex Salmond was trying to travel out of Heathrow when he was initially denied entry to his flight because the fake name didn’t match his real name on his passport.

Salmond uses a fake name for safety reasons and using Kirk’s name came naturally because Salmond is a fan of Star Trek.

The former First Minister usually travels out of either Gatwick or London City airports, where staff is more familiar with his travel arrangements.

In spite of the initial problem, Salmond was able to make his flight. “It was all sorted out,” he said. “I just wanted BA [British Airways] to ‘Beam me up, Scotty!'”

  1. So glad it worked out for you, Mr. First Minister. Any of us unwashed masses pulled a stunt like that, we’d earn ourselves a one-way ticket to Gitmo. Cheers, guvna!

  2. And now that this fake name has been publicized, he’ll have to use a different one, if he’s trying to travel incognito. Well, I guess “Leonard H. McCoy” is available. 🙂
