Klingon Sarcophagus Ship

1 min read

The most recent issue of SFX Magazine features a Star Trek: Discovery story, including data about a Klingon sarcophagus ship.

According to SFX writer Ian Berriman, the “Klingon sarcophagus ship [is] an enormous vessel (three times the size of its Federation counterparts — [belonging] to a 25th Klingon house that we hadn’t previously heard of.

“Its stepped control deck [is] devoid of the usual consoles, because these Klingons interface with their computers directly via ornate silver masks.”

Co-executive producer Ted Sullivan explained that “It’s a two hundred year old ship. This is a group of Klingons who’ve gone back to a Puritan way of life. They look very different: they wear armor that’s two hundred years old and they don’t have any hair.”

Commanded by T’Kuvma (Chris Obi), these Klingons care about their dead. “The outside of the ship is covered in thousands of coffins,” said Sullivan. “Some are three hundred years old; some are just two days old.

“Downstairs is the death room, where they prepare their dead; then the coffins get raised up and put on the outside.”

More photos of the ship can be found at the referring site.
