More On The Tarantino Star Trek Film Pitch

1 min read

Deadline is again reporting on the Quentin Tarantino pitch to J.J. Abrams and Paramount and a surprising request has emerged.

Tarantino spent “hours in a writers’ room” with Mark L. Smith, Lindsey Beer, and Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3), where ideas on a new Trek film were suggested. Supposedly, one of the four will get the job, with Deadline saying that Smith (The Revenant) is the frontrunner.

There was a surprising request from Tarantino, namely that the film be R-rated, not the usual PG-13. It’s not surprising because of Tarantino’s past; his movies have plenty of violence and R-rated scenes, but because this would be a first for a Star Trek film.

Tarantino was also interested in directing the film.
