JumpCon Founder Pleads Guilty

1 min read

JumpCon founder Shane Senter was charged by the State of New Hampshire with violations of the New Hampshire Consumer Protection Act and two theft charges.

Last summer, Senter canceled the Boston JumpCon, as reported at TrekToday. “Many factors that needed to come together to make it happen simply did not,” Senter explained at the time. “We tried everything humanly possible and were unable to overcome the insurmountable obstacles.”

But some of Senter’s tactic were less than ethical. He blamed Robert Picardo (EMH) for canceling and having a “schedule conflict.” Picardo had not canceled but had had his name removed from JumpCon’s website by JumpCon itself.

Fans had been led to believe that John Billingsley (Dr. Phlox) was going to be in attendance even though Billingsley had requested that his name be removed from JumpCon’s website well ahead of the convention.

Senter has agreed to plead guilty to the charges and the State has recommended a suspended sentence at the House of Corrections, five years probation and restitution to all victims of his operation of JumpCon. In addition, he may not own, operate, manage or control a business where he takes deposits/payments prior to providing the promised goods and/or services.

The letter from the Attorney General can be seen here.
