JumpCon Founder Avoids Jail

1 min read

On Monday, JumpCon Founder Shane Senter was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay restitution to victims of his failed JumpCon conventions.

Senter could have been looking at up to seven years in prison and a $4,000 fine for each of two counts of felony theft in addition to another two years of prison time and a $2,000 fine for the other two misdemeanor charges of deceptive business practices.

Instead, Senter, who still owes millions of dollars, received fourteen years of probation along with four years of suspended jail time, and must pay $33,800 in restitution.

The restitution money will be split amongst the fifty-one people who have filed complaints with New Hampshire’s Attorney General.

Many victims didn’t appear at the hearings, including Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica). Olmos and co-star Mary McDonnell were supposed to be the headliners at one of the JumpCon conventions. They are owed more than $100,000.

Senter is also forbidden from owning or operating a business that would accept payment “prior to producing promised goods or services.”
