Star Trek Online To Go Free-to-play

1 min read

Fans of Star Trek Online will be happy to learn that by the end of the year, the game will not require a subscription to play.

Perfect World CEO Kelvin Lau said that a free-to-play model of Star Trek Online is now being developed. “…in fact Cryptic is working on the free-to-play model for Star Trek Online. This is going to be launched by the end of this year as well,” Lau said. “So I think with the free-to-play model we have bigger potential in the US market and also in China.”

Cryptic Studios, which developed Star Trek Online, was purchased by Perfect World last March.

  1. Perfect World completed their purchase of Cryptic Studios in August of this year, not last March.

  2. Now that they have our money for the initial purchase and monthly installments since then…
    Oh JOY !!!!!
